Oct. 19 – Still haven’t heard candidates in person? Seven more debates/ ‘Meet the Candidates’ scheduled this week

October 19, 2015 – With only two weeks until the Savannah Municipal Elections on Nov. 3, a full schedule of debates and ‘Meet the Candidates’ events are on the docket this week.  They include:

The Savannah Area Tea Party is sponsoring a Candidates’ Forum tonight, Mon. Oct. 19, at 6:00 p.m. at Tubby’s Tankhouse in Thunderbolt. The Social Hour begins at 5:00 p.m.  Meeting at 5:30 p.m. Each candidate will be given five minutes to present their platform, and at least 12 candidates have confirmed.   

On Tuesday, The Creative Coast and a citizen’s group called ‘Emergent Savannah’, is holding a Candidates Forum at TCC’s offices at 415 Boundary Street at 5:30.  The audience will be allowed to ask questions of the candidates in attendance.

On Wednesday, the Downtown Neighborhood Assn. is sponsoring a debate with the candidates for District 2, at the Coastal Georgia Center on Fahm Street at 6:00 p.m., using a debate format. Questions can be submitted in

Also on Wednesday, the Young Democrats have invited all candidates to meet and talk at 6:30 p.m. at World of Beer on Broughton Street.

And, on Weds., a ‘Meet Julian Miller’ event will be held at Bar Food in Habersham Village from 6:30 – 8:30 p.m.  He is challenging Alderman Mary Ellen Sprague in District 4.

On Thursday, the business group ‘Buy Local’ has invited all candidates to join them at their monthly luncheon to talk about local business issues.  There is networking session prior to the luncheon. The meeting has been moved to Johnny Harris’ on Victory Drive to accommodate everyone, and starts at 11:30 a.m.  Non-members are always welcome at Buy Local events.

And, on Thursday, the NAACP will hold a debate for all candidates for Districts 1 to 6 at Pentacostal Church, 4722 Bull Street at 6:30 p.m. The public is invited.
