Savannah Business Journal Staff Report

January 31, 2020 - Jaiden Thompson, a Gold Award Girl Scout from Hinesville, GA, has been selected as the guest of US Representative Buddy Carter for the 2020 State of the Union Address in Washington, D.C. on Feb. 4, 2020. Now a student at Georgia Southern University, Jaiden was selected as Rep. Carter’s guest as a result of her incredible Gold Award project: “Community of Care.” Jaiden spent more than 80 hours during her senior year to create a personal hygiene closet, clothing closet, school supply closet, and a prize room for a local school that serves students with severe emotional and behavioral disorders. She worked with school administrators and teachers to provide a sustainable donation program for years to come, serving the ongoing needs of local students.

Gold Award Girl Scouts are the dreamers and the doers who take “make the world a better place” to the next level. The Girl Scout Gold Award is the highest achievement that Girl Scouts can earn – the mark of the truly remarkable. Girl Scouts who earn the Gold Award tackle issues and drive lasting change in their communities and beyond.
