Savannah Business Journal Staff Report

November 30, 2018 - Colony Bank recently announced the promotion of Christopher John Carter to Market President for Statesboro.

Prior to joining Colony Bank in June 2016 as a Vice President, Commercial Lender in Statesboro, Georgia, Carter served six years as Vice President, Commercial Lead Lender for Heritage Bank of the South/Renasant in Statesboro.  He began his banking career in 1994 at Sea Island Bank/Synovus as a teller and working in data processing and customer service, but quickly advanced his career, culminating with nearly 10 years of service as Vice President, Commercial Lending.  Carter attended Georgia Southern University and is a 2005 graduate of the University of Georgia Banking School.  He is a Board member of the United Way of Southeast Georgia, having served as Board Chair from 2016-2017, and previously served on the Boards of both Statesboro Home Builders Association and Family and Children Services.

Commenting on the promotion, Heath Fountain, President and Chief Executive Officer of Colony Bank, said, “Chris joined Colony Bank two years ago to open a loan production office in Statesboro, Georgia, so it is indeed gratifying to be able to acknowledge his accomplishments with this promotion to Market President.  Chris recruited a strong group of banking professionals when opening the new Statesboro loan production office, and he and his team have done an excellent job of implementing solid banking practices that meet the current and emerging needs of the customers in that market.  The Statesboro community continues to grow, and I am confident that the Statesboro branch will extend Colony Bank’s tradition of delivering custom solutions to our customers to help them achieve their financial goals.  We look forward to watching Chris build on his track record of achievement as our Statesboro Market President.”

Carter and his wife, Alison, reside in Statesboro and attend First Baptist Church. They have two daughters, Elizabeth and Meredith.
