Nov. 10 - Georgia Tech-Savannah Experts Present at Conference on High Demand Career Initiative

November 10, 2017 - Several representatives from Georgia Tech-Savannah -- Theresa Atkins, director of industry partnerships - supply chain & logistics; Carole Bennett, assistant director of business operations at the Supply Chain and Logistics Institute; and James Wilburn, academic program director of military programs -- recently spoke at the Georgia Department of Economic Development’s conference on the state’s High Demand Career Initiative sector partnerships. The two-day conference was held at Jekyll Island Nov. 6-7.

Atkins discussed how partnerships led by Georgia Tech successfully address the workforce needs of employers in the region; Bennett spoke on preparing 16- to 24-year-olds for careers in logistics; and Wilburn highlighted how Georgia Tech is helping veterans transition into successful civilian careers.

Other sessions examined how to effectively integrate the workforce and economic development, business services available from the Georgia Department of Labor, and partnerships targeting K-12 education.
