Oct. 2 - Callawassie Island Club Hires New Members

Savannah Business Journal Staff Report

October 2, 2019 - Callawassie Island recently announced the transition of Maggie Denison from Events Director to Marketing Manager, and the hiring of Keriann Ginter to replace her as Events Director. Jeff Gareis has also joined the Callawassie Island team as a new Assistant Golf Professional.

Denison’s background in public relations and her experience over the last several years as the Callawassie Island Events Director, gives her intimate knowledge of our community and make her the obvious choice to fill this position. Denison says she has fallen in love with the Callawassie Island community, its values, and goals saying this will be a seamless transition for her.

“The Callawassie Island Club membership is some of the best that I have ever worked with, they are very supportive, caring, involved, and above all, helpful,” Denison says.

Taking her place is new hire, Keriann Ginter. She’s lived in the lowcountry for almost 15 years, attending the University of South Carolina Beaufort studying Activity and Brand Management. Her background in activities at places like Hilton Head Plantation ad Station 300 give her the experience needed to successfully manage events here.

“Crossing the causeway for the first time literally changed my life. I came here for a wedding a few years ago, and I knew this is where I wanted to end up. I couldn’t be more excited to join this team and the amazing members.” Ginter says.

Keriann lives in Bluffton with her husband, William, daughter Linsley who is 6 and son Harrison who is 2.

Filling the role of the new Assistant Golf Professional is United States Navy Veteran, Jeff Gareis. Gareis, serving 26 years in the Navy, has been around the globe twice as a helicopter pilot, flight instructor, and rescue swimmer, assisting in Hurricane and Tsunami relief among tours of combat and supply missions. During his downtime in the armed forces he picked up a love and passion for golf, so when he “retired” he picked up this passion and ran with it, becoming the Assistant Professional at Broad Bay Country Club in Virginia Beach, Virginia, before accepting the position here. Gareis and his wife Karen have two children; Autumn, Jonathan, and a German Shepherd named “Bear.”
