April 29 - The Drayton Hotel Set to Open Summer 2019

Category: Hospitality & Tourism

Savannah Business Journal Staff Report

April 29, 2019 - The Drayton Hotel, located in the historic heart of Savannah, Georgia is opening this summer and now accepting guest room reservations through its website. Created and operated by Raghav Sapra founder of Maypole Group, which designs, develops and operates hospitality experiences, The Drayton Hotel will be a new 50-room hotel embracing the neighborhood’s identity, people and culture, located on the lively corner of Drayton and East Bay Street, steps away from the famed Savannah River Front.

Situated in the center of Savannah’s Historic District, the hotel will reinvent one of Savannah’s oldest buildings dating from the 1890s. Carefully restored to embrace the building’s 19th-century exterior, The Drayton Hotel will create a luxury experience while staying true to its historic roots, paying homage to the building’s traditional Victorian architecture and neighborhood charm.

The hotel will offer luxurious rooms and suites, a brasserie, coffee bar, downstairs cocktail lounge, and an unmatched rooftop experience with panoramic views of City Hall, the Savannah River, and cityscape. Designed with custom furniture, the hotel’s rooms and public spaces will blend a contemporary aesthetic with classic Savannah style. Upon entering, a spacious vestibule will lead to the lobby’s reception, while a separate seating area, reminiscent of a living room, will feature antiques and found objects with soft lighting and greenery surrounding the space.

Located off the lobby, the restaurant, St. Neo’s, playfully named after the patron saint of fish, Saint Neot, will be a seafood brasserie and oyster bar. Showcasing local ingredients from chef Chris Meenan (formerly of The Blue Water Grill in New York), St. Neo’s will have a beverage program including inventive cocktails and a focused wine selection. The ground floor coffee bar will have pastries freshly made in-house, and a coffee program available for guests and patrons to enjoy while relaxing in the lobby or on the go. An intimate downstairs cocktail lounge will offer priority table reservations for guests to enjoy drinks and light bites late night.

The Drayton Hotel’s rooftop will offer guests and locals unique access to the best views of Savannah’s sites and scenic sunsets, providing a perfect backdrop for evening cocktails. The hotel will also feature several semi-private and private event spaces, including indoor and outdoor areas on the rooftop, downstairs in the cocktail lounge and in the restaurant for hosting intimate events, meetings and special gatherings.

From the lively communal spaces to the intimate nooks to unwind, The Drayton Hotel’s unique setting will provide a new hotel experience for Savannah that is fresh, while remaining true to the city’s historic charm.
