Oct. 3 - House Study Committee on Distracted Driving to Meet in Savannah Oct. 10

October 3, 2017 - State Representative John Carson (R-Marietta), Chairman of the House Study Committee on Distracted Driving, today announced that the committee will hold its next meeting on Tuesday, Oct. 10, 2017, from 9:30 a.m. – 3 p.m. at the Savannah International Trade & Convention Center in Savannah.

Presenters will include: Andrew Heath, Georgia Department of Transportation (GDOT) State Traffic Engineer; Ann Purcell, GDOT Board Member; Bart Gobeil, Georgia Ports Authority Senior Director of Economic and Governmental Affairs; David Kidd, Insurance Institute for Highway Safety Senior Research Scientist; Jessica Cicchino, Insurance Institute for Highway Safety Vice President of Research; Ed Crowell, Georgia Motor Trucking Association; Dave Moellering, Georgia Highway Contractors Association; Jeff Wansley, Georgia Construction Aggregates Association; and Seth Millican, Georgia Transportation Alliance. Local law enforcement officers are encouraged to participate and speak on this issue as well. The committee will also hear testimony from the families of victims of distracted driving.

This ten-member study committee was created by House Resolution 282 during the recent legislative session and will examine whether changes to state law may help reduce instances of distracted driving.
