October 10, 2018 - Hurricane Michael has downgraded to a category 3 storm and expected to continue to weaken. Significant impacts from winds and tornadoes are expected across southeast SC and GA this evening into tomorrow.

WINDS: Highest sustained winds up to 25 to 35 mph with higher gusts 40-50 mph possible, especially within rain bands. Tropical Storm Force Winds most likely tonight through Thursday. Scattered downed trees and power lines. Scattered power outages likely.

TORNADOES: Isolated to scattered tornado damage, along with power outages are possible. Tornadoes may come with little/no warning, particularly dangerous at night while people are sleeping.

RAINFALL: Storm Total Rainfall amounts up to 2 to 4 inches.

COASTAL FLOODING: Minor to moderate impacts during each high tide cycle through tonight.

COASTAL HAZARDS: Life-threatening rip currents through Thursday. High surf and elevated tides will produce some beach erosion around times of high tide

SCHOOL CLOSURES: Savannah-Chatham County Public Schools are closed on Thursday, October 11th for all students.

COUNTY CLOSURES: Chatham County offices will have a delayed opening on Thursday. Normal operations will resume at 12 Noon.
