Savannah Business Journal Staff Report

July 10, 2018 - The Savannah Food & Wine Festival, presented by Publix, is set to take place this November 5-11, 2018. As one of Savannah’s most anticipated fall events, the festival has just posted its volunteer roles and opportunities on its website.

Volunteers have the exclusive opportunity to engage in interactive learning experiences and have behind the scenes access, which plays a vital role in the success of every event. Volunteer positions include general registration, wine and food booths set-up, first-hand assistance with talent, VIP Lounge management and many more.

Festival Co-Founder and Director, Jan Gourley, acknowledges that the volunteers work hard to keep the festival’s events running smoothly and that they simply could not produce the festival without their help.

“Our volunteers take real pride in their roles and know that we rely on them to represent the face of hospitality for the festival and the city of Savannah. Whether it’s the task of helping with general admission, staging signage or assisting chefs prepare for their demos, our volunteers are always smiling and excited to be a part of the festival. Our seasoned volunteers know to sign-up and register early for the premier opportunities”, said Gourley.

Volunteers will receive a t-shirt or apron and souvenir wine glass, as well as non-alcoholic beverages and snacks during work hours.

  • For 6+ hours of work (cumulative or one shift), you will receive 20% off tickets to select events.
  • For 15+ hours (cumulative), you will receive a FREE ticket to the River Street Stroll where you will taste your way through hundreds of wines, spirits, and beer. All this overlooking the majestic Savannah River, plus 20% off tickets to select events.
  • This year, we're introducing a special incentive for volunteering with the Set-up & Signage team.
    • Choose one of four-hour shift on Thursday November 8th or Friday, November 9, & Saturday morning set-up 8 am - noon, you will receive a complimentary ticket  to "The Taste of Savannah”.
