Mar. 20 - Kobalt Tools and other upcoming production and talent opportunities

March 20. 2017 - Kobalt Tools will be in Savannah this week to film a video series, another in a long line of successes in TV, film and ad agencies using the local area for production.

And with those productions come jobs.  For the Kobalt Tools product Video Series, a ‘crew call’ has gone out for a Boom Operator/Mixer and a Production Assistant.  The filming will last for three days, starting on Tues., March 21 and run through Thurs., March 23. A sound person can be both a Boom Operator and a Mixer, and the posted rate for the job is $250 a day.  The Production Assistant job, described to help with general on set duties, is posted as a rate of $170 a day.

The video series is just one in a long list of productions coming to Savannah this year.  And, they often are seeking local contractors and support services.

There’s also a current ‘Casting Call’ for a shoot from April 4 – April 7. High school students and adults from 18 to 35 of all ethnicities are being sought. You need JavaScript enabled to view it..  Those under 18 “must have entertainment work permits to be booked. Please include availability for all four days listed with your submission,” according to the production company seeking talent.  The rate is $300 a day, and the deadlines for submissions is this Friday, March 24.

Savannah Tech and other local schools have developed extensive training programs to train professionals to support the production industry in Savannah, a few local acting schools have sprung up to train those seeking to be in productions.
